Promoting is Essential to a Successful ezboard

Running a Successful ezboard Isn't a Piece of Cake
As said earlier, you won't get hundreds of members and posts overnight. It will take a lot of work and time to have a successful ezboard community, and you must realize this or you'll just be setting yourself up for disappointment. It may take months before you have active members and lots of daily posts. Be patient -- it will pay off in the end. Also, be sure to have a specific subject revolving around your community - the more specific your subject is, the more likely you will be to gain more members quickly. If you have a broad subject, you probably won't get many members, as there will usually already be many communities with the same subject.
Advertise; Don't Spam
Promoting is key to a successful community, but be sure to not go around posting tons of ads for your community, as this will be viewed as spamming by other administrators. You can go to other ezboards and advertise, but only do it if those communities have advertising forums. Also, be sure to read their advertising policies before posting.
Invite Friends
One of the best ways to advertise and promote your community is by telling others yourself. Tell friends and family who are interested in the topics presented at your community about it. Send emails to buddies about your community using the Invite Friends feature (which you can edit under the Promote My Community section of your Control Center).
Use the ezRing
The ezRing is a great way to bring visitors and members from other communities to yours, and from your community to others that you are linked to. It is especially helpful if you link with communities that have a common theme or interest similar to yours. Linking to other communities also helps build friendships between you and other administrators. You can add ezboards to your ezRing by going to your Control Center, My Community, Promote My Community, ezboard Ring Links, and then by following the instructions on that page.
Forum Find & Public Community Showcase
Forum Find and the Public Community Showcase are great places to advertise. You can submit your community to Forum Find and add keywords by clicking the Forum Find Settings link in your Control Center. To advertise your community at the Public Community Showcase simply visit and post an advertisement in the appropriate forum.
Search Engines
Submitting your community to search engines is another great way to advertise your community. Some search engines you should definitely submit your community to include Google, Yahoo! (their directory), and Altavista.
